I have been a member for a while now and I have read and even commented on many diaries. I understand that some people were able to work on their computers at home while lengthening while some were able to go to their workplace when stryde was available. Some questions to all those whove done the procedure.

1. is it comfortable to sit in a chair and work from home through a laptop or desktop computer while lengthening?
2. is it dependent on method? now we dont have stryde, so i want to know opinions on working remotely with frames, precice, betzbone, gnail.
3. better segment to lengthen if you consider working from home? of course LON femur is not something i will attempt. but LON tibia vs gnail or betz bone femur vs precice. which will be most comfortable for sitting long hours?
4. is it difficult to focus on work when you are expected to focus on recovery and rehab?

note i will be attending zoom meetings most of the time but i might have to do about 2 - 3 hours of typing every now and then.

thanks all.

I never did LL. I think as long as you don't put much pressure on your knees it should be fine. Correct me if I am mistaken.

I started working 10 days after surgery, but it's very very challenging. It can be done, but you will be at 50% or so, as it's hard to focus. You will also be very tired from PT and lenghtening.

A Canadian guy and a Dutch guy in Beijing with me worked remotely from the hospital all through lengthening.  They both did external tibias.

I worked with styde femur 14 days after surgery. It was definitly possible. Think this should be similiar with all internal nails

Precice and other internal nails in tibia is probably the least painful option. I’m doing precice tibias and it’s only painful within the first week after the surgery and painful during stretch. Other than that I have 0 pain. Sitting is not a problem at all. However it’s very uncomfortable for me to sit within the first 3 weeks after my femur surgery. A 10 minute car ride could already cause a lot discomfort.

I was teleworking like you described. It wasn’t the pain from the Precice nails that was a problem. It was the fatigue and busy schedule with PT that made it challenging. You won’t be at 100% while lengthening, but it can be done. It’s best to work part time while lengthening. I was working 4 days a week (rather than the full 5 days) while lengthening.

1. I sat in bed with my legs straight while working. It was much more comfortable for me than sitting in a chair and keeping my legs bent.
4. The focus issue wasn’t bad for me and I scheduled PT during my lunch break. I started working two weeks after surgery but could have much sooner if I needed to.
