I've been considering leg lengthening surgery for a while now, and I came across a claim that new minimally invasive techniques can add up to 3 inches overnight. Has anyone had any experience with this? Is it really possible to gain that much height in such a short time?

I've undergone limb lengthening surgery myself, and I can tell you that the process is not as simple as just adding 3 inches overnight. The recovery time is long, and the pain can be intense. I paid around $20,000 for the procedure, and it took me about 6 months to fully recover. But the results are worth it - I've gained about 2 inches in height, and my overall quality of life has improved significantly.

I'm not convinced that leg lengthening surgery is worth the risk. I've read about all the potential complications, such as non-union, infection, and nerve damage. And what about the cost? $20,000 is a lot of money, and I'm not sure I'm willing to take on that kind of financial burden. Has anyone considered the long-term effects of this surgery?

As a researcher in the field of orthopedic surgery, I can attest that distraction osteogenesis is a complex process that involves the gradual distraction of bone segments to stimulate new bone growth. The use of external fixators and intramedullary nails can help to stabilize the bone during the distraction process, but it's essential to carefully evaluate the risks and benefits of each technique.

I agree with @LimbLengthener that the recovery time can be long and painful, but I'm also concerned about the cost. Does anyone know if insurance covers this type of surgery?

Insurance coverage for leg lengthening surgery varies depending on the provider and the specific procedure. However, some insurance plans may cover part or all of the cost if the surgery is deemed medically necessary. It's essential to consult with your insurance provider and a qualified surgeon to determine the best course of action.

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone! I think I'm going to look into this further and consult with a surgeon to see if it's right for me. @LimbLengthener, can you tell me more about your experience with the surgery? What was the recovery process like, and how did you deal with the pain?
