Hey guys,
I have posted before about my plans to do stryde on my femurs in sept with Dr. Giotikas of this year or Jan of next year. But recently, due to developments in my work and personal life, I am unsure about how to work the surgery around everything. I still am really keen to get the surgery done but I need help and a plan of action.
So a bit of context - I have been with my company for only about 8 months. I am a finance recruiter and I enjoy what I do but I have always viewed recruitment as a way to get sales and corporate experience before moving into something I am more passionate about, so doing CLL might be the perfect time to resign and make a career change as I am only 25. The problem is, my company is great and I love the people I work with and I would benefit from some more time in the industry so I could either:
1) Resign and go and do CLL and pursue another career path when I return or
2) Tell my boss that I need to undergo further surgery for a cancer recurrence (I have a history of testicular cancer and required abdominal surgery 5 years ago. I am in the clear but this could be used as an opportunity to get the time off and not have to resign. It may not be ethical or moral but I am keen to hear what you guys think). It is the only way I could get time off without having to resign due to company policy with leave absences.
In my personal life I have begun dating a beautiful and amazing girl and things are getting serious. Do I get the surgery done in Sept and come back and hopefully resume things with her or do I stop dating her all together? I really am keen on this girl but would it be obvious to her that I had CLL even if I lie about injuring my legs? I have never wanted to do this surgery for women as I attracted her and others at my current height (although would be nice to have more women find me sexually attractive haha).
I fear that getting into this relationship will put an end to my CLL journey (until we broke up or never) and I need advice on how to approach the work situation. I would really appreciate some help, there are plenty of great contributors on this forum but I have noticed that lately, topics are not getting the responses/help they need. Please let me know what the best course of action will be while keeping my CLL dream alive.

Thanks for the great thought out advice man. I agree and find value in all your points. The only one i would have difficulty with is telling the girl. Most girls would be turned off after hearing about such a procedure since they don't truly know what we go through that drives us to even consider this surgery. Do you think that lying about a broken leg/ligament injury could work? Not that I want to be dishonest but I feel it may kill a lot of the sexual attraction if she was to find out the truth.
