It includes pre-op taxi, 5 star hotel stay for pre -op, pre-op X-rays, pre-op food, op, post op accommodations, food, taxi, x-rays, laundry, medications for a month. Pretty much everything for 3 months.

I kid you note, Dr Birkholtz walked into my hospital room once, (it's a private hospital, food is actually decent, but it gets better once you move to SAS/Kriege)  and he said if I was fed up of hospital food, as a rare one off treat, they could get me some lovely restaurant food delivered, until I got to SAS.

What is their website?

Actually, I was looking for the cost of doing external fixators on tibias such as TSF.

But I would rather stay 1 month than 3 months period.

Could anyone ask the doctor about the total cost?

Thanks

Dr. Birkholtz is one of surgeon listed in Cyborg4Life's C4llective service. I think I should consider him alongside dr. Giotikas.

Goitikas is good, but my top 3 would be:

1. Paley
2. Birkholtz
3. Rozbruch

With the Athens package, you have to get your own hotel, and you go downstairs to a taxi to the physio and taxi back, and you have to sort your own meals.

With Dr Birkholtz, he in my view, is a top 3 surgeon and better than anyone in Europe.

The physio comes to your room - no risking the nail/time consuming going to physio via taxi or shuttle bus 2x a day for a month then 5x a week for two months. You get quality accomodation, meals brought to you, laundry done for you, x-rays done for you etc

Thank you for the informations. When it comes to favourite doctor, Paley is surely on the top of my list but my budget is nowhere near the cost of surgery at his clinic. Birkholtz and Giotikas are the doctors that fit my budget and expectation (especially about reputation and safety).

Could you ask your doctor about the total cost of doing external fixator on tibias (TSF device, fixing bowlegs at the same time) and staying only for one month (as my lengthening goal isn't than much).

BTW, are you staying in a university or so? Are you sharing the room with any patient? Is it allowed to bring someone with you?

Hope you are recovering well.

Thanks

Hey,

I am not staying at a university, but a private , large room, with my own toilet, bathroom, fridge, microwave. It's the SAS facility, and I get my laundry done, daily cleaning, and daily physio. There's a state of the art Gym I go to for part of physio.

In terms of length/duration, etc, I would say message / email Dr Birkholtz, or go on his website, he replies super quick, and is usually very helpful.

Do you have any good stories, photos etc. of the food, accommodations, physio during lengthening phase in South Africa?
