How long until you can stand for hours on end?

Hey i'm currently doing LL and I was wondering how long post op/frame removal it usually takes or the time it took to be able to return to be able to stand for hours on end at a job that required you to do so, given that you aren't running around so often but still being required to be up on your feet for a given amount (4-6 hours of time)?

I'm doing externals and my doctor told me standing or walking with these on would cause compression and I would lose some of the height that i've gained as a result?
