I heard the first week could have excruciating pain even with pain meds comparable or surpassing that of labour or kidney stones. How best to tolerate the first few hell weeks?

you can try fasting by skipping lunch and living on just breakfast and dinner. it will be extremely uncomfortable. you will even learn to come to be grateful to have so much food to eat which many people in third world countries dont have.

The level of trolling in this thread is pretty hilarious.

In all seriousness, you will have high grade medical narcotics to ease the severe post-surgical pain. Furthermore, most doctors provide their patients with strong oral narcotics for 2-3 weeks after leaving the hospital to ease their more severe pain.
