Is monorail on femur a good idea?

I plan to do only 4.5~5cm on femurs. How serious is  the muscle damage? How about the strange way of walking after recovery?

I don't want the driller damage my bone, at least it sounds terrible. And internal femur will cause strange way of walking for 100% sure
