Hey everybody,
My name is Zayn and I'm an American Pakistani. I am 6'2 and I am looking to reduce my height by about two inches, which is contrary to what you all are going for. I already contacted Dr. Sarin, and he said he has done a limb shortening procedure as well. I contacted the patient who underwent the limb shortening and he gave me so much advice regarding how much I should get cut off. I am only going to get 4.5 cm cut from my femur, but nothing off of my tibia and fibula, because those bones are more difficult to heal in proportion together. So what do you guys think/experienced? How is the healing for femurs after it has been cut? And also, do you guys think that the leg shortening procedure is less dangerous and that its post operation recovery will be better than those of you who are trying to become taller? Because once the legs are shortened, that's it. But when you are trying to become taller, your bones are trying to grow and grow even after surgery, so I can see why limb lengthening would have a lot of complications when it comes to recovery. So how about shortening my thighs? Do you think that recovery would be easier?
Well where i live, it seems like everybody is so miniature and people Have always scrutinized me for being a giant, or being awkwardly tall, and i always get stared at wherever i go. I understand that all of you want to get taller so that's why you think im crazy. I really just hate always being the center of attention. For once in my life i just want to walk down the street and not be stared at. So if any body has heard or me someone who has undergone leg shortening, please let me know
So does anybody here know who the best doctor would be to go with? Initially I was considering India with Dr. Sarin or Dr. Srinigari, but seeing that there are so many negative reviews of them on here, I am changing my mind. Plus I don't know if I would be able to get a visa to India. So do y'all know who the best doctors are in terms of success and treatment? and what country theyre located in/the accommodations they offer. Thanks
Well first I need to contact Dr. Paley and see if he will do a femural reduction of about 4.5 cm, because I actually want to decrease my height, not increase it. I was thinking the recovery for femural cuts would be quicker than the procedures done on fibulas and tibias to heal (as I've heard and seen on this post), and it might cost less, because my lower leg bones are not involved. (I understand most of you probably think Im crazy for wanting be shorter, but I have several personal reasons that I wish to do this and they are VERY strong, ultimately I want to have this surgery done). I have been saving up so far, and I only have a little over 10,000 USD. I know the procedure and post-op stay and accommodations are very expensive, thats why Im saving up now and I know that this surgery will have to take place in the distant future lol.
Honestly my whole family, nuclear and extended, view me as a freak of nature. So do my university peers. SouthEast Asian men are never this tall. When I visit back home, people just gawk. I don't want to be short, judt shorter. It would be nice to be able to walk five steps without having eight people staring at you.
Thank you Kneehow, that really means a lot.
Hey all, it really means so much to me to hear your kind and understanding words. And yes, there really is such a thing as too tall, and unfortunately its what I am. I don't fit in anywhere and stand out like a sore thumb every single place I go. I resort to slouching and sitting as often as possible even though its not healthy. I am receiving advice not to go to Dr. Sarin, so does anybody else have any other doctors/suggestions?
Yeah I contacted Guichet a couple days ago but he didn't get back to me yet. Anybody know any other reputable doctors, as I am now being told that Sarin is not a good choice, which sucks because he is the cheapest and he put me in contact with someone who underwent a femoral shortening from him.

Lol no offense guys and IamAndrew especially, you keep saying what YOU would do. Well guess what? Im not you. I am me. And I am not going to move to a place with different cultures, languages, and religions to fit in when I can possibly get a procedure done. Should I tell you to move to Korea or Mexico because everybody there is short? No. Even the advice I see you giving mrtall, it's not really yours or anybody else's place to handle someone else's insecurity like that. Just as there is such a thing as being too short, there is such a thing as being too tall. Especially amongst my entire family, community, and town. So I would appreciate it if anybody who doesn't have anything helpful to say, not say anything at all. Plus, I dont want to be an 'alpha-male' unlike most of you. I am a really shy, quiet, and naturally introverted person. And don't tell me to change my personality either because that's being just as absurd. I know the grass always looks greener on the otherside, which is why all you guys are over here reprimanding me and advising on me what I should and should not do. Sorry, but it's really not your place.
