One lengthening or multiple, which is more common?

Hey everyone, I haven't been here in quite some time. Life took me towards other priorities for a while. Lately, I have finally gotten my limb lengthening journey started after months of talking to my GP and orthopedic clinics in my area. I've found an orthopedic specialist who does functional LL. My situation is different from what I imagine most people here are dealing with. I have an upper arm length discrepancy.

According to the measurements taken by my surgeon from x-rays, my left humorous (the normal one) is 354.1 mm and my right humorous (the shorter one) is 270.7 mm, leaving a discrepancy of 83.4 mm. For any Americans that is like 3.3 inches. The thing is, my surgeon told me that it's unlikely that all of that could be done with just one procedure, it would likely have to be at least two. He said the initial goal would be to reach 4 cm of lengthening, depending on my body's response to it. But to be fair, he didn't outright deny that it's possible to do it all in one go. He just can't guarantee it.

This is kinda pissing me off, because I've seen lots of LL success stories where the patient has gained more than 4 cm in seemingly one lengthening cycle. So I guess my question is for those of you here with experience with the procedure. Is it actually pretty common to have to do this more than once to reach the final lengthening goal? Is there a reason I couldn't do 83 mm? 4 cm would be better than nothing, but I'd hate to have to go to the trouble of stopping working and my usual routine just to only get half or part way there. I want to be made symmetrical.

the limit / guide of 8 cm is for the segment of the femurs

For the upper arm segment, 3 to 4 cm is what the most people do (cosmetic)

In your case, when there are discrepancies depending on the origin or cause, sometimes the tissues are more tolerant to lengthening , imo listen and work with your doctor.
