Hi guys i just had my surgery the 7 of this month (4 days ago) with HEF with Dr. Pili in Lecco and i’m writing a diary about it.
I was aiming for 6 cm but i will do 5 cause i want to 100% avoid achielle tendos and 5cm is going to be slighty less than 15% of my overall tibia lenght, so i should be fine with any complications on the long run.
My question is, how long i’m going to be on frames? I will start the lenghting the 20 of June and increase 0.75mm everyday, so is going to be about 67 days for 5cm, after that for someone 33 years old that was very athletic and dosn’t smoke, how long should it take?
Realistic frame removal for 5cm external tibia?
I am at 8 months with 5.5cm and I am still on crutches, but walking unaided very slowly. I'm trying to remain positive but I cannot see frame removal for at least another month. My x rays are in my diary.

Realistically, almost everyone should expect 2 months in frames per 1 cm lengthened, so 10 months total for 5 cm, 11 months 5.5 cm.
I did 5,7-5,8 cm with TSF, frames came off after 7,5 months, but my consolidation was quite ok. To calculate 1,5- rather 2 cm/months is more realistic.
That’s very long. Do you think things would go faster for someone around the age of 16?

Definitely
Why not take growth hormone to speed up the process? Are femurs that long also?
