this is my question. how do i know when to remove the external fixator on my tibia if im going for ilazarov only procedure.
do we have to rely on x-rays or the feeling after wieght-bearing or just the doctors experience. im curious and im learning

that makes sense. also dont u think the weight-bearing feelings even if good would be 'fake' at best as still my load would be getting carried by the pins and not the actual bone itself or is it divided on both, the newly formed bone and pins?

but the thing that i cant understand is that while in fixators and when the pins are still in the legs, is the weight totally carried by the pins i mean 100% or the bone regenerate takes over some of the weight. if not then removal of external fixators is the 1st time where the bone takes any kind of load ever?
