spinal is much better in every way right?
no nausea and headaches after surgery
you can stay awake during surgery or sleep with a simple sleeping pill
you can eat before surgery
why do they use general??

all hospitals offer both obviously. It cant be a hospital policy.

spinal can lead to some nerve damage and infection.
but general can cause more serious problems. It can even cause vision problems I have read. it is a pretty strong drug. also because your completely knocked out if you throw up for any reason you can have serious issues. thats why you should not eat or drink for 12 hours before surgery. All this sounds more serious than spinal which is more localised. I don't know why so many doctors use general.
