I have read many posts on this forum, but oddly, the topic of lifts is rarely mentioned.
Since I claim I would never have height neurosis if I was 5' 10"+, I may try a 1" lift, which will put me at 5' 10" - 5' 11". Why wouldn't one want to instantly test out their desired height, or just what it feels and looks to be 1" - 2" taller? This would also be a way to gauge what proportions will look like.
I was just wondering, for those who are planning on <5CM, how come no-one tries lifts to see how it looks and feels to be at their desired height? It's kinda like getting a henna tattoo before an actual tattoo. In my mind, if you like the way it looks and feels, you will most likely conquer height neurosis, but you may be planning this whole time on 5CM, and in reality, it may not be enough to bring piece of mind at the end.
Better to see what it feels like before you go for the surgery IMO.

Why doesn't anybody "test" their desired height with lifts?

Looking at yourself in a full-length mirror is all fine and good, but I wouldn't test lifts out in the street most likely.
You can get custom made lifts (orthotics) from a podiatrist which should feel pretty good. Also, I'm not saying it is a permanent solution (although technically it could be for some), but it's more of a teaser to see what it feels like to be taller.
