At university I lived with two 6ft people, one 6'4 and one 6'6... Two of my close friends from where I grew up are 6'2...

I think you answer your own question in your first post, they want to be that 6ft+ and be heigher than everyone else and not the short guy or the regular guy.

it's funny to see that this forum live only with giants
men are 7', women are 6'2
6'6 is very rare, I think you overestimate their height

My cousin is 6'7. He's been measured in front of me, so I know I am right.

I don't know if I have EVER seen someone else as tall as him...ever.

But I am in the USA, the land of midgets apparently. We only average 5'10 and not 5'11 like the Germans after all...

Regardless age or ethnicities , the average height in the US is only 5'9" .
Americans are pretty short , except in some regions I guess, I guess that in predominantly white and wealthy regions the average is certainly higher

Not quite.

Average is 5'9.5 for all, 5'10 for whites.

Blacks, asians, natives, and hispanics, are mostly all shorter.

I'm a white boy.

Look for "non-hispanic white americans 20-39"

Edit: The "american male average is 5'9" comes from a CDC study done in the 1980's. My local ortho had it in his desk. We had to google the newest info to show he was using out-dated data.

Also, my anecdotal evidence for the day...

I frequent the "wealthier" areas of the US, since ya know, I'm wealthier...and I believe the average is correct.

I'm 5'9 in boots and most men are within a couple inches either way of me. Some short dudes, some tall dudes around, but average is as average does.
