I am planning on getting Precise 2.2 for femurs in the next month or so and am trying to decide between Dr. Debiparshad at Limbplastx or Dr. Paley. Any one have any thoughts / opinions on who to go? Currently 5'8 and planning on going for the full 3.15 inches to get to 5'11.

Primary concern is getting botched during surgery at Limbplastx, but from what I have heard it sounds like Limbplastx is fine for femurs. Don't want to pay an additional $30-40k (all in) for Paley if that is unnecessary.

Any opinions / experiences with either doctor / clinic will be appreciated.

But if you will have Tibias then Dr Paley is better.

Yeah this is what I've been hearing from everyone as well. If I will be fine doing femurs with Dr. D., I find it difficult the justify the cost for Paley.

Quote from: kamaruusman on April 07, 2023, 06:36:07 AMPaley is also a merchant himself. Refuse to do external lengthening and hide the risks of nailing.

His age might also be a factor. I heard that he only does 1 leg and let his assistance does the other leg.

I have also heard he only does one leg and Dr. Robbins does the other. I am sure Dr. Robbins is great, but he's still not Paley and that's what you're really paying for.

I saw this and it bothers me as well, but seems to be a tibia issue and not a femur issue. Are there any reports of Dr. D. doing a poor job on anyone's femurs?

Thank you, but can you elaborate a bit more? I am truly trying to make the best decision here. If Limbplastx can do femurs just as well and that's what I'm getting done, why shouldn't I go with them?

Okay, are there any reports / evidence of this?

Quote from: kamaruusman on April 08, 2023, 12:59:50 PMIf a surgeon can only do femurs well and not tibias, then that should tell you that he's not a skilled doctor.

By the way, femurs are the easiest to do safely that's why many doctors prefer to do it. But that doesn't mean that it's best to do it with a less skilled and experienced surgeon.

Dr. Debiparshad (Limbplastx) or Paley?

Thank you, this is helpful

Quote from: ballsackoffury123 on April 09, 2023, 09:02:11 AMYeah I mean for me a few reason is I can wfh in tech based out of San Francisco. Time zone was a big part for me, I didn’t take a single day off from work except surgery day. Logistically I was able to drive to Las Vegas and find a 3 br airbnb for $2k a month.

I think it really is a person in person basis. Dr. Paley is the more experienced surgeon, no doubt, but it’s not a really hard surgery..I watched full videos on YouTube. It’s a 1.5 hour operation and Dr. D is easily qualified for the job.

TLDR, I don’t think you can go wrong with either surgeons. They’re both top of the line. If you have specific questions on the process of Dr. D and what to expect, I’d be happy to answer it for you.

I think one thing overlooked is that because the amount of volume in Paley, it’s harder for him to for a personal connection with you. Dr D doesn’t have that volume and knows each of his patients by heart. He can chat about any single of his patients, who they are, where they work, and what their journey was like. I met a guy in PT and was chatting about hey this guy “bob” and he was like oh yeah the guy that work at X. Well he’s in a wheelchair because he weighs 200 pounds and you don’t so you should be on your walker more.

Really pros and cons of both, but I think any of the famous 5 or 6 US CLL surgeons, you’re in good hands. Just depends logistically what works best for you.

Thank you! This is extremely helpful color. This seems to be what all of the previous patients of Limbplastx say as well.

Quote from: kamaruusman on April 09, 2023, 09:30:01 AMI'll stop you here. It is not a really hard surgery when everything goes right. But what will happen when complications arise? The skill and experience of the surgeon will play a huge factor and might be the difference between you staying alive and not.

I think that's definitely hyperbolic. The odds of dying from this are damn near zero, especially in the US.
