Hey guys, I've had a quick look around but can't find any topic on the big difference between both.
What is the advantage of the PRECICE nail over the extramedullary internal nail and how big is that advantage?
I'm guessing that because the PRECICE nail actually goes into the bone, it's safer and more accurate. How much so?
I got this in an email from Mitkovic when I inquired:
"If you are interested for intramedullary (into the bone) nail (Precise) it would be 35 thousand euros as devices will be imported from US and they are very expensive. If you would like to be used internal but extramedullary (onto the femur surface) then it is 16 thousand euros. "
That's all I know.
Yep, it depends on the nail you choose. 16k for his extramedullary internal nail, 35 k for precice (he didn't mention the extra 6k cost though, I will have to ask him about that).
I got a new email from him this morning:

No, I think he is saying it can be transformed into an internal device without much difficulty if necessary (because using this extramedullary nail he had complications back in 2010- runaway bone lengthening I think. He has since redesigned it). I'll have to read more into it.
