I'm considering limb lengthening surgery and came across a clinic offering a 5cm gain for $2500. Is this a realistic price? Has anyone had a similar experience?

I've had a similar procedure done in the US for around $30,000. The pain was significant, but the outcome was worth it. I gained 6cm. I'd advise caution with such low prices and prioritize safety and quality of care.

I'm not sure I agree with limb lengthening surgery, especially at low prices. What about risks like non-union, infection, or nerve damage? Have you considered long-term consequences? I'd rather prioritize health and safety over the desire to be taller.

Physiological Mechanisms of Distraction Osteogenesis

Limb lengthening surgery involves complex physiological mechanisms. The process of distraction osteogenesis requires careful consideration of osteotomy, callus formation, and the distraction phase. The choice between intramedullary nails and external fixators affects the outcome. The latency period, distraction phase, and consolidation phase are critical for success.

The price of $2500 for a 5cm gain seems unrealistically low and may indicate substandard care. Prioritizing safety and seeking care from experienced surgeons is essential.

I agree the price seems low. Can you tell us more about the clinic and the surgeon's experience? What kind of follow-up care do they offer?

I've tried researching the clinic but couldn't find much information. I'm getting worried I might be taking a risk by choosing this clinic.

I used a PRECICE nail and had a great outcome. The procedure was challenging, but the results were worth it. I'd be happy to answer questions and provide more information about my experience.

The use of internal lengthening nails like PRECICE can reduce complications and improve outcomes. However, understanding the physiological mechanisms and potential risks is crucial. I'd be happy to discuss this further and provide more information from the medical literature.
