I heard its good to have a credit card when you leave the USA (better fraud protection).

There are some credit cards that give point bonus if you spend 1000$ within say 90 days. I don't usually pay for things, I'm in parents basement, not paying for anything now. But I will obviously pay for the surgery and everything when I'm in Greece

I don't think I want to pay for the surgery w/ the credit card but I do want to get those points. Idk should I time it that I get the credit card started right before coming to Greece? Is it pretty realistic to be able to spend 1000$ w/ the credit card on things I need within 90 days or a bit less? Needs to be a bit less I guess to make sure I get the card maybe 2 weeks before I leave the USA

What bonus points?

And depends how will u use that credit card. If u can pay off most of the debt back in grace period then go for it. Otherwise i think credit card isn't that great.

Fraud protection is mostly about Charge back(doe it works for both debit and credit cards). Its not 100% guarantee since the service provider can decline your complaint(he needs proof that he provided the service you paid for but i've seen tons of situations which they tried absolutely everything to prove that they did what they had to even if in reality they didn't).

You want some additional info u can hit me up, i'm ex bank worker lol

I think it would be a smart idea paying your expenses on your credit card (Flights, Acommodations, Food etc) to rack up those points and get the bonus rewards! so long as you pay them in full right when the balance is pay-able to not pay interest.

It's a great idea.  I did this.  Paid for food and hotel expenses on card.  Racked up tons of points which came to be hundreds in savings, as I opt for cash back.  I only WISH that I could have put the surgery cost on CC.  That point return would have been incredible.
