Just want to let you know I really appreciate your diary so much. I am very likely going to Dr. Barinov in the summer of 2016 and this diary is invaluable. Thanks so much for taking the time
Can I ask what rate did you lengthen?

it's likely I will be doing surgery with barinov, sticking to 5cm only so i guess ilazarov would be prefered over LON or LATN?
is ketarol taken orally or is it some special injection, and if it is pills can you not just have them ready to take by your bedside along with a glass of water.
I read Kamui's diary and it was said the pain was very bad on the first night, is that because he did not have access to ketarol?
I am also confused about this general anesthesia that you are offered during surgery, people were saying if you take this you wil get a bad headache for days later on, but then it was said it might be somethign elese that causes the headache, if you can give some advice that would help a lot.
are there any patients that have had their devices removed in their own country, and if so does barinov expect us to send the device back to him.
for going home for consolidation, how I will get through airport the device on, should i bring some very baggy joggers, maybe I should bring my own wheelchair to russia, better yet maybe i should go to russia in a wheelchair so i know how to access the planes as a disabled person.
can I check that during the consolodation phase you can go up about 15 stair steps by sitting down on the first step and dragging yourself up each stair, I kindof need to do this to get to the 2nd floor of my house.
also during consolodation, what would be my prefered stance, should i be sitting in wheelchair most of the time, or should i be lying in bed most of the time.
also about wifi, i understand the hospital has no wifi, but does the clinic have wifi, I will only use the internet to change my flight times towards the end of the lengthening phase.
this forum wont let me edit my post, even before another person has posted, so sorry for the triple post.
Another important question, are you charged in EUR or in Russian Ruble, as it seems the exchange rate is better groing from 605,000 Russian Ruble to GBP, than going from the quoted 12,500 EUR to GBP
can I ask, on the first night of extreme pain, can the doctor not simply knock you out? why most you endure it?
Is the rod inserted immidiately after lengthening is done? How soon after rod insertion can you walk? And is it walking unassisted or assisted recommended?

Hello and thanks for sharing your experience!
First time I see Barinov's work! Can you ask him why he puts the rings so far apart and why he uses only 2? Doesn't it affect the stability and strength? Especially since they are connected with long rods that have a very short union at the centre?
I can see TSF using only 2 rings as they have diagonals rods like in construction, making them extremely sturdy and stable, even under lateral force but for Ilizarov I thought it was better to put 3 rings?

elevating feet at head level
noticing that valgus on left tibia is unnoticable. still noticable on right.
