Nerve pain appeared for me around 30mm and It is common amongst lengthening patients to start getting nerve pain around past 30 mm. I stooped lengthening a few months ago and only have numbness around my left tibia  and minor nerve pain in the same area (not super painful and more annoying than painful). I don't have any nerve pain on top of my feet and only localized in the left tibia. My doctor told me that it can take weeks/months to improve. The doctors usually stop patients immediately who start losing function in the limb, toe or feet.

Careful monitoring during lengthening is a must as sometimes these can go unnoticed I guess..Can this be permanent though? Any idea?

Yes and I slowed down lengthening to 0.75mm a day. Nerves grow 1mm per day. It has improved since I stopped lengthening but there is also possibility of it not 100% going away. Usually these type of localized numbness and nerve irritation heal themselves with time🤞I will keep everyone posted and hope this helps Is nerve injury a very serious concern for internal femur lengthening?

It won't go unnoticed lol. You'll definitely notice it when your skin goes numb or your nerves starts hurting.

Crazy stuff..If detected, they could be treated permanently right? Or even after detection, the issues could be permanent?

I’m actually not sure. My shin numbness is persistent and based on what others have experienced post-distraction, it could be years before it goes away, or it may even be permanent. I would hope that chronic nerve pain would cause the lengthening process to stop before it becomes permanent, but again I’m seeing some journals talk about persistent nerve pain after the distraction phase. If you get persistent nerve issues during lengthening it seems like they could stick around for a while.

Does it affect you while doing your work or is it a mild discomfort?

I've had a large range of nerve issues, as I've written in detail in my journal.
At the lowest end, some minor numbness in my shins is not really noticeable at all.
At the highest end, I've had severe acute neuralgia to the point where I can only lay in bed curled up in fetal position in 8/10 pain for over an hour straight.

So as I've said before it really depends on the person and situation. You'll have to work it out with your doctor as issues come up. Overall, I've been able to work during the distraction phase, but my productivity is much lower than usual.
